Program fees

This page provides information about the program fees, the Students’ Union (ÖH) fee, the payment of the fees and the re-enrolment on your continuing education and training program at the Postgraduate Center of the University of Vienna.

Program fees

The online application form specifies the amount of the program fees. The terms of payment are defind in our general terms and conditions. Upon submitting your application for admission, you also agree to the terms of payment.

Students’ Union fee (ÖH fee)

All students of the University of Vienna, including non-degree program students (participants in continuing education and training programs), have to pay a compulsory fee to the Austrian National Union of Students (ÖH) every semester. This fee amounts to EUR 24.70 in the winter semester 2024/25 and in the summer semester 2025, 70 cents of which go to the ÖH accident and liability insurance. The rest of the fee is divided among the federal union of students and the unions at individual higher educational institutions. The Students’ Union fee is already included in the program fees. This means that you do not have to worry about paying the ÖH fee.

Some students participating in a continuing education and training program are also enrolled in other degree programs at the University of Vienna (bachelor’s, Bakkalaureat, master’s, Magister, diploma, doctoral, PhD programs). As in the past, participants only have to pay the ÖH fee once. This also applies to students who are simultaneously enrolled in a degree program at the University of Vienna and at another Austrian university. Hence, if you are enrolled in another degree program and a continuing education and training program at the University of Vienna at the same time, you do not have to worry about paying the ÖH fee. You already paid it as part of the program fees.

Payment

You can pay your program fees (including the ÖH fee) as soon as you have received the invoice from the finance department of the Postgraduate Center.

Please note that you might be required to pay tuition fees for other degree programs at the University of Vienna. This is the case, for example, if you did not complete another degree program within the standard duration (including tolerance semesters) specified in the curriculum. These fees have to be paid in full and within the relevant payment period. Otherwise, your re-enrollment becomes ineffective and you will be excluded from your degree programs.

Re-enrollment

If you are a university student, you have to pay the tuition/Student's Union fee every semester in due time by the end of the admission period and/or the period of grace to be able to continue your studies. By paying the tuition/Students’ Union fee, you are automatically re-enrolled on your degree program for the next semester.

When you have been re-enrolled on your degree program, you can download the current study documents (student record sheet, confirmation of enrolment) from u:space under Personal matters > My documents, print them and validate your u:card for the next semester.

For participants of continuing education and training programs, the Students’ Union fee (ÖH fee) is already included in the program fees. The re-enrollment becomes effective as soon as the Postgraduate Center has transferred the Students’ Union fee (ÖH fee) for you. Therefore, you do not have to pay the Students’ Union fee separately.

Please note that you might be required to pay tuition fees for other degree programs at the University of Vienna. This is the case, for example, if you did not complete another degree program within the standard duration (including tolerance semesters) specified in the curriculum. These fees have to be paid in full and within the relevant payment. Otherwise, your re-enrollment becomes ineffective and you will be excluded from your degree programs.
