Graduation 2011

On 28 September 2011 ten students of the fourth class of the LL.M. International Legal Studies program graduated in the Great Ceremony Hall of the grand old University building. The students came from Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Russia, the Slovak Republic, and the USA.

This year, the opening address was given by the Vice-Dean of the University of the JURIDICUM/ Vienna School of Law, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Susanne Reindl-Krauskopf, while the Head of the Law School's CALE Center (Center of Advanced Legal Studies), Professor Dr. Siegfried Fina, summarized the importance of the postgraduate law programs at the JURIDICUM and their teaching faculty.

The program director of the LL.M. International Legal Studies, Univ.-Prof. Dr. August Reinisch, LL.M., stressed the importance of Vienna as a location for studying international law.

Four Students graduated with distinction this year:

Sara Julia Grilc (Austria) - who has focused on Human Rights and Minority Rights since her first master thesis 2007-08. Her LL.M. thesis under the supervision of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Manfred Nowak carries the title "Responsibility to Protect - The Cases of Libya and Côte d'Ivoire".

Anna True Katselas (USA) – was best student of the year 2010-11 and is a former appellate section attorney at the US Department of Justice in Washington D.C.. Her thesis under the supervision of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christoph Schreuer was entitled: "Do Investment Treaties Prescribe a Standard of Review?"

Mag. Alexandra Klausner (Austria) - a former employee at the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and Foreign Affairs was the program's first part-time student. She wrote her LL.M. Thesis under the supervision of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Hanspeter Neuhold on: "Truth Commissions or International Criminal Courts/Tribunals?"

Mrs. Romina Sol Mattassini de Hill (Argentina)-  was second-best student of the year 2010-11 and is a former prosecutor at the Argentine National Customs Office (AFIP). She wrote her thesis under the supervision of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Manfred Nowak: "Ensuring Equal Access to Justice and Equal Enjoyment of the Rights to a Fair Trial and Effective Redress to all Victims of Wrongful or Arbitrary Imposition of Counter-Terrorism Targeted Sanctions"
